There are some great local annual events that happen in Gloucestershire.  Most are steeped in tradition like the Cheese Roll, Randwick Wap and Bisley Well Dressing and others like the Tetbury cart races are more for fun than for pleasing the seasons.  At the weekend, I covered the Meningitis Now Five Valleys Walk for The Gloucester Citizen.  It was great to see people of all aged step out and enjoy the countryside and help raise money for a good cause.  I talked to a few walkers who had personal experience of Meningitis and felt the need to give something back.  As a parent I’ve found myself waiting in an emergency ward with a young son to get the all clear following a suspected case.  The walk is on my do to list so hopefully next year.

These two pictures are from the event.  The family shot was used as the papers big picture.  While the near silhouette is just my favourite.
